Yambungan
Yambungan was acquired from Rio Tinto in Dec 2024 and is composed of a very large single granted EPM (EPM26413) situated within the Boomarra Fault Zone, on the eastern margin of the Mary Kathleen Domain.
Yambungan was consistently explored and drilled by Rio Tinto during the years 2018-2022 for a total of 13 drill holes and multiple geophysical and geochemical surveys. During this time Rio Tinto was exploring for numerous minerals including copper (IOCG and Mt Isa style deposits), graphite (hosted by graphitic shales and gneiss), vanadium (Toolebuc Formation is present in this area) and Rare Earths (REEs).
Drilling by Rio Tinto successfully discovered high-grade graphite, with an intersection as high as 44m@30% TGC (Total Graphitic Carbon). Yambungan is located immediately west of the Mt Burke and Mt Dromedary (Lithium Energy) graphite projects. Rio Tinto also discovered high-graphite REEs. Drill hole YAM004 intersected ~4m @ 1.4% NdPr (Neodymium + Praseodymium) which are some of the most sought-after rare earths, however the same intercept also contains Y = 2.2%, La = 4.1%, Ce = 5.75% and Dy+Tb (Dysprosium + Terbium) of 621ppm.
